Writing&Communication Statement
Writing&Communication Statement
Through my studies in the IAS program, I have strengthened my writing and communication skills. I believe that good communication is a process that enables people to exchange ideas through dialogue. In good writing, we can express the power of words in written form. Journalism values the integration of these two aspects to achieve its ultimate goal.
In BIS332 Global Digital Industries, I created a poster about SoftBank. This course taught me to explain the inherent tensions and challenges of globalization from a communication perspective. I applied this approach to analyze SoftBank's transnational economic and political issues. During my research, I delved deeply into the company's origins and the history of its owners, presenting the current state and challenges of the company to the audience. Additionally, I explored the company's overall economic landscape, highlighting its bold decisions and controversial history. Ultimately, I completed the poster to present to my classmates. The ability to gather information and concisely present project details demonstrates logical organization, which is essential for precise communication.
In BISPSY 350 Intergroup Relations, The article "Me, Myself, and the World" demonstrates proficient communication of the topic by skillfully blending personal anecdotes with theoretical insights and structured argumentation. My ability to integrate personal experiences with academic theories shows a deep understanding of the subject. By referencing credible sources like Leyens et al. (2002) and Rapley (2001), I support my arguments effectively, showcasing my research skills and contextualizing personal observations within broader sociological and psychological frameworks.
Good writing transcends mere creativity; it is a harmonious blend of argumentation, structure, style, and rhetorical techniques. A well-defined structure ensures logical presentation, guiding the reader seamlessly. Tailored style enhances readability and engagement, while rhetorical techniques like ethos, pathos, and logos are crucial for persuasion and connection. Visual elements, though not always essential, can enhance comprehension. Ultimately, good writing conveys ideas clearly and compellingly, making the interplay of these elements indispensable for achieving specific goals.
